WHITFIELD S OINTMENT 20GM is a dermatological medication primarily used to treat eczema, psoriasis, skin irritation and inflammation caused by burns, insect bites, fungal infections. WHITFIELD S OINTMENT 20GM also treats dermatophyte (fungi) infection of the scalp (tinea capitis), glabrous (hairless) skin and skin folds. Eczema is a condition in which skin patches become inflamed, itchy, cracked, and rough. Some types of eczema can also lead to blisters (a small bubble on the skin that is filled with serum and is caused by friction, burning, or other damage). Psoriasis is a skin disorder in which skin cells multiply up to 10 times faster than usual, leading to skin build-up into bumpy (uneven) red patches covered with white scales. These commonly appear on the scalp, elbows, knees, and lower back. Fungal infection occurs when a fungus invades and affects the tissue on the skin.

Common side effects of WHITFIELD S OINTMENT 20GM include warmth or a burning sensation, skin irritation, itching and redness at the application site. WHITFIELD S OINTMENT 20GM is available in the form of ointment. Gently rinse the affected area with saline or water before applying WHITFIELD S OINTMENT 20GM. Pat the skin and dry with a clean cotton towel. Apply a generous amount of WHITFIELD S OINTMENT 20GM and spread it evenly on the affected areas of the skin to form a 1/8-inch thick layer with clean and dry hands. You can also apply WHITFIELD S OINTMENT 20GM with a piece of clean cotton wool or gauze swab. Wash your hands before and after using WHITFIELD S OINTMENT 20GM on the affected areas unless the treatment is for hands. Salicylic acid is available in shampoo, soap, lotion, gel, foam and solution. Your doctor will advise the appropriate dose that suits your infection. WHITFIELD S OINTMENT 20GM is for topical (for skin use) only. If the medicine gets into your eyes, nose, or mouth, rinse thoroughly with cold water.
